For those who follow the art of street photography, arguably there is one name that for many exemplifies the best in the medium: Henri Cartier-Bresson.
Few artists have traveled as extensively, witnessed so many historical world events of the last century and at the same time captured the unique, ordinary moments of daily life. He worked for a variety of magazines, as a freelancer and as one of the founding members of Magnum Photos, considered the most prestigious agency in the world. Among his many books, a collection of photographs published in France under the title, “Images à la Sauvette,” and in English as “The Decisive Moment,” with a collage cover by Henri Matisse. It is revered by many as the gold standard of humanist photojournalism.
